BE THE BEST VS DO THE BEST

Most parents tell their kids to be the best in school, do you think is that the right statement ??

Well for me such a statement is more toward pressuring the kids, make them stressed up and end up to do cheating in order to score the best. I can’t say most of the kids but I’ll say some of the kids having bad attitude to relieve their stress became bullies in school. It’s because kids misunderstood the meaning “be the best”.

As the parents, we should encourage them not giving them any pressures and give them all the positive energy (the positive thinking), e.g. by saying “do all your best in the exam” instead of “I want to see the perfect score in your exam”. You all might heard about the kid's psychology about how do they absorb and practice their words. Kids tends to follow/copy exactly every single word that came out from other people's mouth because they are still pure and innocent. They don't really understand how to interact with other people out there so what they normally do follow their role model / idol, whoever that they think is someone they trust, able to listen their stories / complaints and care about them. Such a person is not a must from family; it might be a close friend from school or someone from the neighborhood. And that person plays a very important role during the growth and development of the kid. Once your kid admire or close with some particular person, we need to be aware of it.

We want our next generation to be someone who able contributes something good / useful to the society. It doesn't mean they need to be number one (the best), as long they do their best during their lifetime to improve the society then it's all good. If you said you are the best then you didn't give yourself a chance to improve. Do your best in everything you do so you could able to do things better and better.
